Here are some costume designs I did as a student at the University of Colorado at Boulder. The originals were done with gouache, but the versions you see here were re-done using Corel Painter 6.0.3. I customized a brush so that it had exactly the same feel as the gouache I used to use. I have to say, Painter is incredible...

I wasn't a theater major, by the way--I majored in Fine Art. But one semester I did decide to take two classes in the Theater department: Costume Design and Lighting design. As it turned out, I enjoyed them much more, and found them to be much more useful, than my classes in the Fine Arts department. The stuff I learned about the behavior of light was great from the standpoint of learning to paint realistically, and costume design was just a lot of fun (and instructive, as well). Maybe I should have changed my major...DOH!!!
